Building Resilience At Work & Home

Stress is a major challenge in modern life.  While it might be normal and even at times helpful to experience stress, the reality is that most people carry much higher amounts than is healthy and struggle to find the necessary resilience to work through difficulty.  It has become commonplace to just accept stress as part of life, however left unchecked it can lead to serious health issues.  It is estimated that more than 90% of all GP visits are the direct result of stress related illnesses. What most people don’t realise is that with closer attention and some simple lifestyle changes, stress can be managed.  The experience of stress is actually determined by how individuals subjectively interpret their experience, not the experience itself.  In addition to learning stress relieving techniques, it is also possible to learn how to better recognise and manage the role that thoughts play in triggering the stress response.  It is critical to recognise that too much stress is unhealthy and then commit to doing something about it before it becomes a real problem.
